august 8 2005:
wow. that was one hell of a week. despite some scheduling problems early on, the egr fest ended up running pretty smoothly. our appologies to those eager to see jana hunter, the vermicious knid and jon rae. they couldn't play for valid reasons. thanks a heap to brian borcherdt and sandro perri for coming through in a pinch.
thanks especially to all the bands that played (ken reaume, brian borcherdt, neil haverty. sandro perri, purple hill, n!fty, final fantasy, the wooden stars, bell orchestre, oh bijou & loitering heroes), to kevin parnell for lending us his backyard for the BBQ, to shawn, chris and amy and anybody else involved in making sure the venues were booked, to anybody who helped work the door or merch tables, to the concrete arts. and most importantly, thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed some music over the last few days. how could we ask for a better birthday party?
so, it's sort of like a new year for us now. we're trying to get our shit together a little more and hopefully some big things will happen for the label in the next few months. first up, the final fantasy 7".
we spent a little time last week at al p's MSTRKRFT studio listening to some of the early mixes and have to tell you that owen has been cooking up some pretty amazing versions of some of our favourite songs. owen is off to tour with arcade fire for the next couple of months but we'll be working on the 45 while he's gone. no official word on the release date but trust us, its coming soon.
purple hill's owen marchildon just left for a western canadian tour with from fiction. if you see the name listed in your local weeklies, make sure you go see them. from fiction are one of our favourite bands and we promise you won't be dissapointed.
there are new escape goat t-shirts courtesy of mike carman. we will post photos once we screen a second run. thanks to everyone that picked one up over the last few days.
we'll hopefully add some content to this website over the course of the next month. if you need more information than you can find here, just email us and ask.

july 16 2005:
the details for the 'with friends like these III' have finally started to sort themselves out. we're sure things will change slightly before August but figured you might want to know about these shows...
wednesday, august third @ the rivoli jana hunter, ken reaume & neil haverty
thursday, august fourth @ sneaky dee's the vermicious knid, purple Hill & awesome
friday, august fifth @ the elmo the wooden stars, bell orchestre & final fantasy
saturday, august sixth @ location tbc an acoustic potluck and bbq with performers tba
our thanks to the concrete arts, rms concerts, tim ford, andrew mccormack and a handful of others for their help in putting this all together. all ticket information and posters and the like are still to be worked out but we promise to be reasonable. check back for details.
the final fantasy 7" is coming along at a decent pace. we're doing our best to get it out as soon as possible, though earlier reports of a july release may be unfounded. information to come.
samir khan and jeremy gara from weights & measures made a really great record called attic salt with their other band kepler. they will have a release party on july 23rd at the boat in toronto (jeremy has arcade fire duties to tend to so he won't be there) and we think you should go. if you don't, you should hunt down a copy of attic salt via troubleman. you won't be sorry.
one last thing.... our friends at the ford plant in brantford have put together an absolutely amazing string os shows in mid-august. if you've never been to this little diamond of a venue, this is the perfect opportunity. go here for details and directions.
that's all for now but things are always brewing. come out to the festival. we promise you'll have a good time.

owen
and leon are currently putting the finishing touches on the upcoming
final fantasy seven inch “young canadian mothers”. the record has been
slotted for a july release. owen has posted some information (including
the tracklisting) on his website.
the long awaited snailhouse/neil haverty seven inch is slowly moving towards completion. good things take time...
work
continues on the third annual egr summer event. this year we have
joined forces with the toronto arts collective ‘concrete arts’ in
organizing a weeklong event (july 30-aug 7). The line up and venues
will be posted very shortly.
ryan
stanley has two shows coming up in july. he’ll be in waterloo @ the
grad house on july 7 th w/ oh bijou and then hamilton @ the casbah

may 17th 2005:
after a few hold ups and some issues with manufacturing, the purple
hill CD is finally done. it turned out great and we will celebrate it
sometime soon with an official release party. but you can get it from
bluehouse now if you want it. escape goat mike also made
owen some very awesome t-shirts. it should be up on bluehouse
shortly but for now, email us if you want one. also, read a
little interview with mr. marchildon here. we've also posted an mp3
from his record here.
read a newish review of ryan stanley's record here and a newish
interview with neil haverty here.
owen pallett has spent a while on the road with stuart mclean, playing
songs for all kinds of new people. he is apparently close to finishing
up the final fantasy 7" and we will hopefully put it out berfore
mid-summer. we heard some early mixes and think it's gonna be awesome.
oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, owen's website is completely strange.
we've started thinking about this year's egr weekend, check back
closer to summer for information. we're trying to get our act together
with a bunch of things. hopefully news will be a little more frequent
than it has been. we're gonna try to keep on this website stuff and
finally get all the pages up to date and a little more in depth. give
us a little time though.

february 10th 2005:
first off we’d like to congratulate Jeremy Gara and Owen Pallet ontheir
successful tour with The Arcade Fire and their astounding
performance on Late Night with Conan O’Brian.
Owen Marchildron is in the process of putting the finishing touches on
his Purple Hill record. we hope to have the finished product ready very
soon. In the meantime, Owen is off to Chicago to record with From
Fiction at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studio. we wish them the
best and know that the collaboration of Albini and From Fiction will
result in an amazing record.
also
a reminder that this weekend is Wavelength 250! there will be shows
thursday through sunday. all of the lineups are stellar and the cover
change is - as always - very reasonable. the escape goat crew will be
DJing friday’s show at Lee’s Palace. if you’re there, please make sure
to say hello. for more info click here.

thank you to the small ford plant crew for treating us nice and
coming in from the cold. ryan and neil will both be back soon. let's hope christmas activities are over and done with by then. for those who want to 'take home the magic', ryan's carol is here.
for the brantfordian that was asking about downloadbles, neil
posted some old mp3s. a couple of comp releases (that you
might have already heard cause this isn't the first time
we've pimped them out) and an unreleased track he
recorded for his grandma's 90th birthday bash.
you can find them here.
neil will play at the casbah in hamilton on the 21st. the
line-up isn't fully confirmed but one thing is clear --
the motherfucking wooden stars are reforming.
word is they're also playing in toronto on the 20th
(horseshoe) and a london show is also in the works.
this is great news, people.
merry whatever. have fun with your family. there might
be some new stuff here on boxing day. depends how much
goes down on the j-man's birthday.
